What is Barza Rec?
A recreational soccer program with an emphasis on fun. The program is currently designed for children ages 4 – 9 (as of August 1, 2008). The Recreational program is managed by FC Barcelona AZ, an affiliate of the FC Barcelona of Spain. The rec program is made possible through volunteer parental coaches. Through our recreational program we intend to provide a fun, learning atmosphere where youth players can grow to love the world’s most popular game. All coaches are required to attend a pre season coaches meeting where we will run through age appropriate drills and hand out uniforms and schedules.

Rec Design
Barza Rec teams are formed based on age groups depending on the number of registered players. All age groups play a 4v4 format on 20x30 fields with a maximum roster of 8 players. The club promotes the small-sided game and smaller teams in order to build the technical abilities and fitness level of our players.
Smaller teams + smaller fields = increased touches on the ball, increased skills, increased participation, increased fun!

Q: How does Barza handle coach or friend requests?
A: We will make every effort to honor all requests but may not be able to grant everyone’s wishes. We have limited space available in our Barza Rec program and will have maximum roster sizes to ensure we can focus on every player. We plan on holding 3 sessions per year. Players who have played with us the previous season have priority over any new applicants.
Q: Whom do I contact if I have questions or feedback?
A: You can contact the club President, Greg Gonzalez (greggonzalez@evbarzafc.com) or the Academy/Rec Director, Eddie Cooper (eddiecooper@evbarzafc.com) for any questions you may have on Barza Academy, Barza Rec or any of our programs.
Q: Can I register a whole team?
A: Yes, but space is limited. We are only accepting a maximum of 4 teams per age group (U5-U10) at this time
Q: Will there be a Coaches meeting for the Fall 2008 season?
A: Yes, there will be a coaches training session to prepare the coaches for the Fall 2008 season. It is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, September 6th at the Power Ranch Soccer fields. We will have more details posted soon.
Q: What happens after I register?
A: All registrations that are received by August 30th are separated by age group and teams are formed. Coaches will receive their team rosters at the coaches training session on September 6th. You should be contacted by your coach by September 10th. At that point your coach will inform you of practice days, times, and locations.
Q: Will there be makeup date for pictures?
A: No, pictures will only be taken on week 2 of the fall season, September 27th. If you cannot make picture day you will still receive a team photo.
